Beloved community tradition celebrates survivors, honors cancer-fighting heroes, and spotlights the life-saving power of early detection
HARTFORD, Conn., August 21, 2025— Baseball, community spirit, and the power of early detection will take center stage on Thursday, August 28, as Jefferson Radiology and the Hartford Yard Goats host the 7th Annual Strike Out Cancer Night at Dunkin’ Donuts Stadium.
For seven years, this special night has united fans in a powerful show of support for those impacted by cancer, while raising awareness of how annual screenings can change — and save — lives. This year’s theme, Strike Out Cancer with Power, highlights the impact of early detection and the strength of the community in the fight against cancer.
“Early detection is absolutely the key to better treatment and saving lives,” said Dr. Jean Weigert, Breast Imaging Section Chief at Jefferson Radiology. “The most important step is getting your annual screening mammogram. Connecticut has the third-highest rate of breast cancer in the United States, and we have powerful tools to assess risk and guide treatment.”
Jefferson Radiology plays a critical role in cancer care by providing timely, accurate imaging results that help guide treatment decisions. The practice is committed to ensuring patients have the answers they need and the compassionate care they deserve. Representatives from the American Cancer Society will also be on site to share educational resources.
