Breast Imaging Fellowship Program

This one-year fellowship includes screening, diagnostic, and breast procedures, offering the academic rigor of subspecialty training combined with the high-volume, real-world experience of private practice as a breast imaging radiologist. Fellows train within an eight-member breast imaging division, interpreting a large volume of breast exams, including MRI, and performing breast procedures across both hospital and outpatient settings.

Hands-on procedural experience includes ultrasound and stereotactic-guided biopsies. Fellows also have opportunities to participate in clinical research and gain additional exposure within the pathology and surgical departments. The program’s robust referral base includes primary care practitioners, women’s health specialists, and breast surgeons, ensuring diverse case exposure and learning environment.

Jefferson Radiology performs over 900,000 exams annually. Fellows gain extensive clinical experience, participate in research collaborations, and contribute to teaching alongside 20 residents from Hartford Hospital’s radiology residency program. Graduates emerge with the expertise and clinical acumen to excel in both academic and private practice settings, prepared to meet the growing demand for skilled breast imagers.
