What is 3D Mammography?
3D mammography, also called breast tomosynthesis, captures multiple low-dose X-ray images of the breast from several angles and turns them into thin, detailed layers your radiologist can scroll through.
Compared with traditional 2D mammography, this layer-by-layer view helps our breast radiologists find more cancers at an earlier, more treatable stage, and it lowers the chance that you will be called back for additional imaging. The difference matters most for women with dense breast tissue, where overlapping tissue can hide abnormalities on a standard mammogram.
