3D Mammography and Dense Breast Tissue

Many women have dense breast tissue. It is completely normal, but it can make cancer harder to detect on a conventional mammogram and is itself a risk factor.

3D mammography improves detection in dense breasts by separating overlapping tissue into distinct layers. If you have dense breasts, your radiologist may also recommend a screening breast ultrasound along with the screening mammogram to help detect breast cancer.
